Celebrity Chef Todd English was arrested on Long Island over Labor Day weekend for driving while intoxicated

Celebrity chef Todd English was arrested for drunk driving over Labor Day weekend.

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Todd English was arrested on Sunday, August 31 for driving while intoxicated, reports NBC.

The Boston-based chef, who had been in Southampton, Long Island for Labor Day weekend, was pulled over near the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club for drifting out of his lane around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

English reportedly refused a breathalyzer test on the advice of his lawyer, and was charged with a misdemeanor DWI. English appeared in Southampton Town Justice Court later the same day and was released after posting $1,500 bail.

English is the owner of several restaurants around the country, including Olives, Beso, The Todd English Food Hall, and others.

In March 2014, Olives in New York City’s Union Square was taken over by The Gerber Group. Although the restaurant’s menu and concept remains the same, English is no longer involved with the daily operations of the restaurant.

Hot Tub Enthusiast And Celebrity Chef Todd English Busted For Hamptons DWI

Once-acclaimed chef Todd Engish was arrested yesterday for allegedly driving drunk in Southampton Town. Newsday reports, "English, whose full name is William Todd English, was stopped about 3:33 a.m. for drifting out of his lane on County Road 39, Southampton Town police said. English, 54, of New York City, refused a Breathalyzer test, police said."

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and posted $1,500 bail. He also took a mugshot which showed bloodshot-looking eyes. According to the Post, "English, who was with an Asian girlfriend he recently met in Europe, had been at the Sienna restaurant in East Hampton earlier, sources said. Asked whether he had been drinking, English — who turned 54 on Friday — allegedly admitted downing two glasses of wine."

His lawyer said, "We adamantly deny the allegations levied against Mr. English and look forward to addressing this matter in a court of law."

The infamous hot tub picture

Still, the Post says, per a source, that English has "been celebrating his birthday since Thursday." A waitress at Sienna said, "Todd was having fun. He comes here all the time. He’s friendly with everyone. He wasn’t acting crazy." He was later seen at a nightclub.

Earlier this year, Page Six reported that a wasted English was making out with two women at Provocateur—in front of his girlfriend of three years who threw a drink in his face. (English reportedly left with the other women.) Then a photograph of English in a hot tub with three topless women emerged. which was followed by him losing control of his restaurant, Olives.

In an interview with the Observer, English said of the hot tub incident, "Probably wasn’t thinking too much. It’s much better that I stay behind a hot stove than in a hot tub, is probably my answer to that."

Chef Todd English Arrested for Drunk Driving

Chef Todd English can now add drunk driving to his growing list questionable life decisions. According to the New York Post, English was arrested this past Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated. The chef and his girlfriend were pulled over at around 3:30 a.m. on Long Island, New York while behind the wheel of a 2011 Buick.

English's lawyer is dismissing any possible wrong doing by the chef: "We adamantly deny the allegations levied against Mr. English and look forward to addressing this matter in a court of law."

It's been a rough year for English. The celebrity chef lost control of his New York City restaurant Olives over "his playboy antics." In 2013, the original location of his Olives restaurant in Charlestown, Mass. was seized because it was over $780,000 in debt. And, though he denies it, chef Barbara Lynch told the New York Times Magazine that English one threw a Coke bottle at her head and dumped a plate of food on her as punishment in the kitchen. Lynch added, "I learned how not to run a restaurant group from Todd English."

It looks like former HSN vendor-celebrity restaurateur Todd English may finally be seeing the light.

The New York Post’s Page Six gossip column reported Thursday that English, who was arrested on drunken driving charges in the Hamptons last month, has attended an “outpatient rehab program.”

English, whose intoxicated antics have included practically having a three-some in a Manhattan eatery, “is focusing on charity,” according to the Post.

Is this a PR ploy? To us, it could be.

English appeared at a Food Bank fundraiser at Henri Bendel earlier this week, and has some other good works in the works, including one for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

One Response to “Ex-HSN Vendor-Chef Todd English Does Rehab, Post Says”

Now this CLEARLY explains the ultra LOUD laughter we had one day watching him do a demo on HSN/Or QVC a little while back where live on-air he was using a peppermill on top of a dish when he uttered AS CLEAR AS DAY “You know, there’s nothing like fresh black pecker”…

And the host looked at him and he gave a smirk like “I’m such a handsome rich chef nobody heard that anyway”.

What’s next a ShopHq threesome with Bozek, English and that fruity bald butterball Jorge from Waterford Crystal?

Methinks Todd looks like a monkfish with black hair, his lips only a fisherman’s hook would enjoy! Reel in this fugly all day sucka!!

Todd English reportedly accused of sexually harassing waitress

Todd English is being accused of sexually harassing a waitress at his Todd English Food Hall, an upscale restuarant the celebrity chef operates at The Plaza Hotel in New York.

According to a report earlier this month in The New York Daily News, server Gabrielle Eubank has filed a complaint in a Manhattan court claiming she was harassed by English. She says English’s behavior, which included him telling her she was “sexy” and he was “surprised you’re still single,” helped create a “toxic, objectifying, and hostile” work environment. The charges against English and other staffers accused of harassment are included in a complaint against The Plaza Hotel. English is not named as a defendant. “Any attempt at harassment or discrimination toward our colleagues and guests has not and never will be tolerated,” a spokeswoman for the company that owns The Plaza said in an earlier statement.

On May 17, Eubank alleges, she was working a party when English, “who appeared to be intoxicated, began hugging Ms. Eubank and kissing her on the cheek repeatedly,” according to the Daily News. “Mr. English then began flagrantly propositioning Ms. Eubank on the floor . . . Mr. English then attempted to kiss Ms. Eubank on the lips, forcing her to turn away at the last moment.”

Attempts to reach English (inset), who is not quoted in the Daily News story, were unsuccessful Sunday.

This month has seen an avalanche of sexual harassment stories following The New York Times and The New Yorker’s shocking articles revealing allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The Los Angeles Times published a story Sunday that included the claims of 38 women who said they were sexually harassed by director James Toback. And the New Orleans Times-Picayune published a story about celebrity chef John Besh in which 25 current and former employees of the Besh Restaurant Group claimed to be victims of sexual harassment while on the job.

English, who opened his first restaurant, Olives, in Charlestown in 1989, spends most of his time in New York these days, though in the Hub he still owns Figs, on Charles Street, and Bonfire, at Logan Airport.

In New York, English has been something a fixture on the gossip pages. In 2014, he was charged with DWI in the Hamptons and then packed off to rehab. Earlier the same year, a photo emerged of a grinning English in a hot tub with three topless women. And who can forget when English’s former fiancee, Erica Wang, was charged with assault after striking the chef in the face with a men’s watch just a few weeks before they were due to be married.
